Dr. T.S. Jiang, President of PhytoHealth Corp., the only Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) listed company qualified under the “Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry Development Bylaw”, announced on Wednesday that PhytoHealth has successfully expanded into a new territory in biotechnology healthcare---Dental Pulp Stem Cell Bank. A new company, Stem BioTeK Corporation, has been set up to extract, isolate, cultivate and store dental pulp stem cells which will be used in a pioneer medical procedure to repair damaged human body tissues.

 

Stem BioTeK, co-founded by Maywufa (1731) and PhytoHealth (4108), is currently the only biotech company in the country possessing such advanced technology. Combining the financial resources, expertise, and specialty equipments, Stem BioTeK will extract and store dental pulp stem cells of young children aged between 6 to 12, for novel medical applications promised by the new technology.

 

Stem cell and related genetic therapeutic procedure is a revolutionary medical technology developed within the past decade. There have been successful cases in which such therapy was proved effective in treating genetically transmitted diseases and certain cancers. According to Dr. Jiang, the scientists at Stem BioTeK have successfully treated periodontosis patients with stem cells extracted from the patient.
